Add images using Ancestral Sources

Post by Paul_Birmingham » 14 Apr 2013 18:20

I am quite new to this add on to Family Historian. I have read the help files but am having a little difficulty with images. When I complete the Census screen in Sources and add an image (the original Census form) I get a message saying the FH file will be updated. On inspecting the FH file I see the data I entered into Sources is indeed now there but there is no image in the FH multimedia tab. Should there be?

Add images using Ancestral Sources

Hi Paul

I assume you're using the default settings in Ancestral Sources and that you're not getting any warnings when you save the entry that you've not attached images. If that is the case then it does indicate the image is being linked.

This knowledge base page may help you to understand where the data goes in Family Historian. It is part of a tutorial, put together by Mike Tate, that explains how to use Ancestral Sources to create census sources. There is also a video tutorial showing this.

If it doesn't answer the question please get back in touch again via this forum or drop me an email.

Best wishes

Nick

Add images using Ancestral Sources

Hi Nick,

Thanks for such a prompt reply. I was looking for the image in the image tag of the main properties box rather than the source record. In my lack of detailed knowledge of FH I had stored all of my images there (census records, birth certs, photos etc) rather than in the source record. Now that I look in the right place I can see that Ancestral Sources has indeed put the image in the right place.

Thanks again. Best Wishes

Paul
