I am using a modified "Strathclyde" format for my census source titles, e.g.
'Census 1841 : Huntington, Yorkshire, England : 6 Jun 1841 : JACKSON, Robert : [A0038-0000]'

using the Title Template - {SOURCETYPE} {YEAR} : {PLACE} ({ADDR}) : {DATE} : {KEYPERSON.SN_GN.CAPS} : [{KEYPERSON.CUSTOMID}]

This works fine most of the time, as the keyperson is normally the 'head' and therefore the first person in the list, but I have a number of examples where the 'person of interest' has no relation to anyone else in the household (e.g. a servant or a lodger) and none of the others are individuals in my FH project.

I create my 'text from source' entries to be as accurate a transcript of the original as I can, so I record everyone in the household - in same order as the census image. In these cases, I also want to reference my 'person of interest' in the title, not the head of household.

I have achieved this by first recording everybody in the sequence on the census image and creating the text from source. I then move the 'person of interest to the top of the list to create the required title, before saving.

would it be feasible to provide a tick box or similar to designate a preferred {KEYPERSON} in these situations.

I don't use KEYPERSON for this reason and that's why I've always used the 'Other Info' field to record who the key person is in the entry and I have that in the title template. But admittedly that wouldn't work as well for you as you have the custom ID in there too and I guess for the majority of time the Keyperson is correct. It's not a bad suggestion that you've made so I'll make a note of that. Your solution of moving the person of interest seems to be a good solution currently and only takes a few seconds I guess?

You are right, it only takes a few seconds, so not a major inconvenience, and I only do it when the 'Head of Household' is not related to the KEYPERSON.

However, I do have one census source where I have used the head as KEYPERSON, even though neither he nor his wife exist as individuals in FH. The resulting source title is as below, and you will note that the {KEYPERSON.CUSTOMID} has been filled with the {KEYPERSON.SN_GN.CAPS} data -

Census 1861 : Southwell, Nottinghamshire, England (Rivers, Caunton) : 7 Apr 1861 : John Sculpholm : [John Sculpholm]

However, for a person in FH with no custom iD, this is left blank, as per -

Census 1911 : Ecclesall, Yorkshire, England (16 Sackville Road) : 2 Apr 1911 : MARTIN, James : []

FYI - On the 1861 census my g-grandmother Emma Taylor (nee Smith) is shown as a widow and as the niece of John Sculpholme and his wife Jane. the family link must be with Jane, but I don't know yet if that link is to Emma's father or her mother. Which is why I have not yet added them to FH.

In the next beta test version of AS there will be a facility to select the Key Person for a census entry - thanks for this suggestion. Thanks also for pointing out that the KEYPERSON.CUSTOMID should return nothing, rather than that the name of the individual if they are not in the file. This will also be fixed in the next version.
