Death Entries

Post by jelv » 09 Feb 2023 15:29

Just spotted that when recording a death for a married woman, in the autotext generated by Death Certificate 2007- (England/Wales) section 4. Maiden surname of woman who has married it is putting the married surname, not the maiden name.

I recall asking about this issue or similar a couple of years ago when doing my own birth/death cert (a tabular one) and wanted to know how to get the maiden name. At the time Nick said is wasn't really simple/possible for reasons. I'm not sure if this is still the case.

I think it was this thread: viewtopic.php?f=34&t=18874&p=109630&hilit=death#p109630 but could be wrong.

I've also found that it is missing "husband/wife/widow/widower of [spouse]" from section 6. I'm working on the auto template for that.

Inserting the line

Code: Select all

=IF[{SPOUSE}%=IF[{SPOUSE.DECEASED}%=TITLE[{KEYPERSON.GENDER.WIDOWERWIDOW}]%=TITLE[{KEYPERSON.GENDER.HUSBANDWIFE}]] of {SPOUSE.FULL.CAPS} {SPOUSE.OCCUPATION}%]
between the existing two lines of section 6 seems to work.

Thanks, that is the issue I've found.

Thinking creatively, I tried replacing {KEYPERSON.SN} with {KEYFATHER.SN}, but that didn't return anything. :(

Thanks John and Chris. The next beta test version of AS will incorporate a new SN_ORIGINAL keyword that guarantees to return the original surname of the deceased individual rather than the last married name (if that option is set). It will also include modified versions of the post 1969 death certificate auto-text templates with the SN_ORIGINAL keyword and the husband or wife details in section 6 as suggested by John.
