Modify AS Auto-Text Marriage Template

Post by McHooty » 09 Jan 2023 19:27

Hi
Quick question about modifying an AS Rich Text Auto-Text Marriage Template.
I would like to include anything that I enter in the Note field into the template, but am struggling to find the data ref for this.
Firstly, is it possible to do this and if so what wording should i be using.
Thanks
Michael Huteson

Anything you enter into the multi-line note box at the bottom of the AS screen will get created as a note attached to the source. An AS auto-text template helps you to generate a transcription of the marriage document and this gets stored as 'text from source' attached to the source. The template uses the data you enter into the various boxes in AS to create the starting point for the transcription, but inevitably you will almost always need to make some manual changes before you save the marriage record. So rather than type data into the note box, why not just type it directly into the source text before saving?

That is what I have been doing. The problem (?) I have is that my design has the position for the data in an odd place and I keep forgetting to type it in, whereas the Note space on the screen is obvious and I would be more likely to notice if I had missed it out.
Not to worry, just need to enter a few more then it will become automatic.
Thanks Nick

You may already be doing this but, depending on the amount of data you're entering, you could use the 'Other Info' box to enter additional information with the {OTHER} reference in the template.

I've moved this to the Ancestral Souces forum that seems more appropriate.
