Census entries, duplicate records question

Post by neil40 » 09 Jan 2023 10:59

Perhaps one for Nick

I have discovered that in 1911, my great Uncle is recorded in the 1911 Census of Ireland (same date as E&W), with his entire family, including siblings up to the age of 30+ (which I thought odd, but not impossible of course)
I have since found one of the older sisters, married in 1904 in Fylde, Lancs, and then found her, plus 2 children and 2 of her siblings listed as lodgers, recorded on the 1911 E&W census in Manchester.
Perhaps a case of mis-interpretation for the Irish entries, but, what will happen if I try to record them again for the 1911 - will it want to overwrite the original entries or is it possible to add them a second time, perhaps with a note of explanation?
Thanks. Thought I'd ask before potentially making a mess as I've never come across this scenario before.

When you go to add to the new census grid AS will ask you do you want to overwrite the existing entry. If you UNTICK the box, then AS will create a new entry with the new details.
