Ref ID field

Post by gsward » 30 Dec 2022 18:04

I have noticed in 7.6.6 (64 bit) that the field Ref ID that appears on the Further Info tab is not being passed to the Text panel when you click Auto. Is this intentional, configurable or bug?

Thanks.

What Autotext Template are you selecting when you hit the Auto button?. I always populate the Ref ID and see it appear in the panel with each template I use.

The reference ID doesn't appear in the built-in autotext templates, except for the 'Generic' templates. The reason for this is that the other templates are designed to help to create a transcription of the source and generally a citation reference ID doesn't appear in the document being transcribed. Assuming you're using recording method 1, by default the reference ID does get recorded in the source title and the Publication Information field (if you're using generic sources) or in the source template (if you're using templated sources) - there are also options (for each source type) to have AS record the reference ID in the citations.

If you want to, you can edit the auto-text template (or create new ones of your own) via the Tools->Autotext Template Editor. If you put the keyword {REF} into the template then this will be replaced with the reference ID you enter.

Best wishes
