Age in years and months

Post by LornaCraig » 11 Dec 2022 14:24

When AS offers to create a birth date, or change an existing birth date, it bases its calculation on the individual’s age in years, or in years and months in the case of the 1921 census. This works well when the number of months is anything from 1 to 11. However if the number of months is 0 the calculation is handled as if only the age in whole years is known.

If the Age Entry assistant is used it is not possible to show 0 months in the AS grid. The age is shown only in years. This is not surprising, because in both FH and AS the default is to assume that if the months and days are both 0 then only the years are known. However it is possible to enter an age manually in the grid in the form 53y 0m. In spite of this, AS ignores the 0 months when calculating the birth date.

Would it be possible for AS to take account of 0 months when calculating a birth date?
