Template Keyword Request

Hi Nick,

I have been trying to find a {FAMILY.ID} keyword, that would work in a similar fashion to the {KEYPERSON.ID} / {SPOUSE.ID} keywords, i.e., it would return the family ID for marriage entries. I am not sure if I cannot find it, or it does not exist. If the latter, do you think you would be able to put this on your extensive to-do list please?

By the way, thank you for making =COMMAINDEX available as a function, this has proved invaluable in allowing me to auto-name my media and source titles. I did struggle a little to make it work to start with, but I have it all sorted now. I didn't find it in the Help file - just to let you know, in case you meant to add it but forgot.

I think you (or someone at least), asked about this recently and I did look at it, but it isn't technically very easy to achieve because, particularly for baptisms and births, the family id is generated at the end of the process after clicking save. It's not impossible but would require a lot more development work than it might first appear.

COMMAINDEX is on the help page that refers to the keywords and functions. The web version of the page is here. However, I can see that I didn't add to the help to mention the fact that the index can be negative to count from the end of the comma separated list.

Thanks Nick. I don't know how I missed that help! I was using the in-program help and I'm sure it wasn't there, but I have just re-checked and it is! Perhaps it came down in the Beta update I recently installed.

I'm not sure it was me that asked about the family ID, but based on my performance mentioned above, maybe it was! I understand what you are saying, although I would only make use of it in Marriage records, but I guess the process would be the same unless the family record existed already. Anyway, it's not critical, I can add it in manually easily enough. Thanks for checking.
