Thanks Colin. I've been meaning to do these for a while now. I have others planned when I get the chance.

I too would like to add my thanks...I'm getting far more comfortable with AS (and loving it), but tutorials are definitely welcome :)

Definitly need one as an introduction to customising titles and creating auto-text templates. Too late for me, but I'm sure there are some potential AS explorers/nerds who would be intetested in at least knowing of the possibilities and how to get started.

Thanks for the positive feedback! 😎

They take quite a while to produce so I do need to find time to do more. I am part way through one which is slightly more general to try to explain about sources - why we need to record them, the difference between generic and templated sources, splitter (method 1) and lumper sources (method 2) and plain text vs rich text. These should be helpful to non-AS users too but will definitely have an AS focus to them. I won't be discussing anything about particular methodologies for recording templated sources, etc. I'll be focussing mainly on the mechanics of how these things are stored in the files and the reason why Method 1 is the best method to use for recording census, BMD certificates and baptisms and burials.

I think I ought to also do a tutorial on recording a non census source.

Tutorials on customising titles and templates is a good idea too.

From past experience as a software developer, I know the effort required to do Help files that are actually useful, and including How-to sections. So many I've read basically tell you what you can see without actually saying what they actually do or why you'd want to use a thing. Doing tutorials is the same on steroids, and giving classroom training is also 'such fun' (teaching via an interpreter to 2nd world people who've barely met a keyboard anyone :geek:). So I don't envy the time and effort you must have taken to do what you have so far.

Well done.

I really appreciated the tutorials, as it cleared up points for me and is allowing me to progress. I must admit that your follow up on sources will also help me as well. I await it eagerly.
Thanks Nick
