Unhandled exception
Hi Nick,
I just experienced a repeatable Unhandled exception error running AS v7.4.4
I had opened AS, set the repository to TNA and the Census year 1881. Then on adding an unrelated individual who now appears in the Find Name selection box I get this error: Continue adds the person to the Grid and all proceeds smoothly. Edited - except the Title did not get populated.
Any thoughts?
Regards David

Re: Unhandled exception
Hi David
Can you let me know what your method 1 title template is. If you have the short title template defined can you let me know that too.
Thanks
Nick

Re: Unhandled exception
Hi Nick,
Yes, it is
{YEAR}{DATE.MONTH.NUM2}{DATE.DAY2} {SOURCETYPE} @ {PLACE} {PLACE.SHORT}: {REF} - {KEYPERSON.GN} {KEYPERSON.SN.CAPS}
I repeat the place info to help with reversing, so it reads from largest to smallest. No Short title used, see image.
Thanks, David

Re: Unhandled exception
Hi David
I've tried to repeat this using your title template and v7.4.4 but I'm not getting an error (I select 1881 England, select a repository and add an unrelated person). I wonder whether you would mind using 'Backup A.S. Options' in the tools menu and then email to me your exported settings (nick at ancestralsources dot com). Can you check that this also happens with the FH Sample Project and if so can you also include in your email a set of steps I could follow with the sample project to see the error.
Thanks again
Nick

Re: Unhandled exception
Hi Nick,
I took me a few attempts to repeat this.
However this following is consistent:
1. Load AS from within FH for Census entry
2. Select Census year (am using England 1881)
3. Click add unrelated individual - do not enter name or gender
4. click OK
5. either response to the yes/no message box re creating without gender
6. Remove selected entry
7. Repeat steps 3, 4, 5 - the unhandled exception arises.
Not surprising since I have just deleted the first individual in the Grid. It seems that the Grid needs to be initialised so i have checked using different countries, years, Census, Register or Electoral.
It seems the error arises when the Grid once initialised is emptied by removing the entries added (doesn't matter how those entries were added) then trying add an unrelated entry to the emptied grid.
Hope that makes sense. I have sent the Back UP AS options as requested, although I suspect it isn't relevant.

Re: Unhandled exception
Thanks David. I've now been able to reproduce that error and it was easy to fix in the imminent new version.
Cheers
