AS Backup and Restore from image

Post by Kai Chandler » 06 Feb 2022 17:02

I regularly backup my system to external drives with Macrium Reflect. What would I need to restore to get Ancestral Sources working as before? Would this include any census templates I create?

thanks

Kai

You should backup the Documents\Ancestral Sources\Settings folder. In addition there are some settings stored in the registry. You can export these settings to a file and back those up if you wish using Tools->Backup AS Options and then include that in your backup regime.

thanks Nick. Where are any new or changed templates eg. Census Templates stored?

- Documents\Ancestral Sources\Settings OR
- The registry

If the registry, would they be included in Tools->Backup AS Options?

Census templates, auto-text templates, source templates and associated individual types are stored in the files in the Settings folder. The registry is mainly used for the various options you can set in the Tools->Options screens.
