AS Not Remembering Last Used Folder

Post by kenfig » 08 Jan 2021 15:52

Hi Nick

On previous versions of AS when saving a census etc. it would remember the folder for the census year. However, since updating to version 7, I see it only remembers some of the folders, eg 1939, marriages, baptisms etc.

I found the following:-
'In your project folder structure, navigate to <Project Name>\<Project Name>.fh_data\Plugin Data\Ancestral Sources.appdata and delete the file ASProjectOptions.xml'

'AS will rebuild it from scratch.'

This doesn't appear to work anymore. It's not a massive problem as I'm able to manually select the correct folder. It would be good to know if this is a problem with my setup or with AS.

Many thanks
Mike

Someone reported something like this when I was beta testing and I fixed it and did a lot of tests to check it so was reasonably confident it was working. This is the first report of a problem with it since then. Would you mind emailing the xml file to me (nick at ancestralsources dot com) to see if it holds any clues?

Thanks

Nick

Yes I remember spotting it during beta testing and, as you say, it was then fixed.

However I have just looked at this again with V7.0.14 and it does seem to be unpredictable, particularly after AS is closed and reopened. I'm still trying to discover a pattern in what it 'remembers'.

EDIT: I think it may just be a case of AS needing to re-learn all the folders for UK censuses now that they have been divided into England, Scotland, Wales. Having worked through most of them now for my main project I think it's OK. kenfig says that it remembers 1939, marriages, baptisms etc but that would be because they have not been changed.

I have actually found a problem with this which should be fixed in the next version. Thanks to Mike for letting me know.
