Post by wigansaint »

Hi since having a catastrophic laptop failure I'm downloading my software again. However when I click on the download as link (From various websites-AS own website,FH website) I just get a blank screen. Could someone check this please or suggest if I need to change some settings in Firefox

It will work now -- the version on the old link (5.2) was out of date and pointed to a file that had been deleted. It now points to 5.3.

I've just checked my version of Ancestral Sources and it was v5.2.0; the Help menu Check for Updates… gave 'You already have the latest version of Ancestral Sources.' I've now used the link in the Knowledge Base to update to v5.3.0. I've had a quick look for a post in FHUG about the update to v5.3.0, but couldn't find one.

I know. It does not appear to have been released and announced in the usual way.
It was released in 2016 and the Help pages explain the bug fixes.

Yes I've got a feeling it was one that I was working on and didn't ever get round to releasing. I thought I had.

So it is odd that somehow Jane had a V5.3 copy that got migrated to the new platform leaving V5.2 behind.
Also, the Check for updates button claimed V5.2 was the latest.

There was an issue with 5.2 earlier in the week which meant that it had to be removed (not something to go into here). I think the fact there was a 5.3 there meant the assumption was that was the latest version. I think in my own head I thought I'd released 5.3 long ago but looks like I didn't. I expect it will be OK.

Hi Nick, you created 5.3.0 way back on requests for specific mods I made to you. I had been using 5.3.0 for some years now. But my laptop crashed recently and I had to reinstall everything. But I could only find 5.2.0 on FHUG. As I had forgotten what the mods were, I decided to use 5.2.0. Then today I noticed a user in another forum using 5.3.0 so dug deeper and found the confusion that led to me creating a new ticket today addressed to you.

If it helps - some mods were to do with How a Deceased Father's Occupation was handled when entered from a Marriage Certificate. How the date was entered in the Father's Occupation Fact. That's all I can remember sorry.
