I generally like to have a chart open in FH when entering data into AS, as it allows me to see the results, after I have saved, in the layout I prefer. However when I save AS data and it updates FH, my selected chart closes and the Focus window opens, so I have to go into Views/Saved Charts to reselect the relevant chart. Is it possible to change the default view after saving to the current chart, or at least to have it close but still show on the side bar?

After the message listing the GEDCOM file and saying "This file has been modified by another application. Do you want to reload it?" I believe FH behaves exactly the same as when opening a Project afresh, even down to opening in the Focus Window or the Records Window as chosen in Tools > Preferences > Startup.

So no, there is no way to alter that behaviour.

Anyway, AS is not saving to a Chart but saving to the GEDCOM file.

BTW: it is not possible to have a Navigation sidebar without its associated Window, i.e. Chart in your case.
