1939 Register - updating entries
I have discovered that Find My Past have recently opened the 1939 Register records for several of my relatives who were not included when I entered the original information into FH using AS.
Is there an easy way to use AS to update records to include extra people and update the attached image on an existing Register record?
I have looked on the Knowledge Base and not found anything. My apologies if I have overlooked the obvious.

Enter all the information as a new entry (With new image) then delete the old source citations afterwards (AS will overwrite most of them, but birth . name and occupation citations will remain)

Personally all I have been doing is updating the image in the source and then manually updating the source text, although John's option would be quicker if there is lots of new information rather than simple updates to a single record.

Re: 1939 Register - updating entries
AS is intended primarily for capturing new records, not updating existing records.
If the changes are small, i.e. just on extra person, then it is probably easier to edit the data directly in FH.
e.g.
Locate the specific 1939 Source record, then update its Text From Source transcript and replace the Media tab image.
Create relevant facts for the one person, such as Birth and Occupation with citations of the Source record.
BTW: If you are confident to find the old image within the Media folder, then simply replace it with the new image.
If not, then add the new image as usual to the Source record Media tab.
Then unlink and delete the now unused Media record, and run the Check for Unlinked Media Plugin.

Many thanks for your answers. I think I will be using a mixture of all your suggestions.
Re: 1939 Register - updating entries
It might be too late in this instance, but when I am adding new entries for the 1939 census I edit the "Text from source" section to include the redacted entries in a household. They read as e.g. "Subject no. 3 redacted". I don't have an individual for these entries but seemed a useful way of recognising missing family members or others to be added later.

I have been doing something similar. It will be interesting to see if these people are who we think they are.gsward wrote:It might be too late in this instance, but when I am adding new entries for the 1939 census I edit the "Text from source" section to include the redacted entries in a household.
