Hello, I have just tried to link an image from file. When the 1841 census file came up the expected entry wasn't there. I thought I hadn't downloaded it so went onto Ancestry and downloaded it. I returned to the add image window and tried again. The same thing happened. I decided to check the file without going through AS. The correct image was there along with the newly downloaded version of the same image. I wondered why some of the images were showing in the AS file window but not all.
Thank you Ann

Re: Linking images
So are you saying that in AS you're choosing the option to add a new image, you're navigating to the folder where the image is saved but you can't see it?
What file type is it? For example, jpeg image, PDF document, etc?

Re: Linking images
Hello Nick,
Yes I wanted to link an 1841 census image. It is jpeg. I clicked link from file found the folder but the image didn't show. I tried changing to 'all files' it was still not there. I have since tried in FH to find the same file and it is there. After trying the 1841 census I tried to link a death certificate and that was fine, likewise the 1851 census folder. What I haven't tried yet is entering the information, closing the entry and later trying to link the image to an existing entry. Thank you for your reply.
Regards Ann

Re: Linking images
If the file isn't there in AS then you must be looking in a different folder to the one you're viewing in Family Historian. All AS is doing is using the standard Windows file dialog window so it can't be an AS problem. Make sure you are looking in the correct folder for it. The only other option I can this of is if for some reason the file took a very long time to download and wasn't there at the point when you tried to link the image but had subsequently downloaded by the time you looked in FH, but that seems unlikely.

Re: Linking images
Thanks Nick. Hopefully I am having a new computer in the next few days so things will be different. I have downloaded all the Knowledge base instructions for my engineer to follow hope things will right themselves.
