tweaking with AS

Post by jbrooks » 17 Mar 2016 19:53

I input data into FH V4 using ancestral sources in 2012. I am now using FH 6.1 and AS 5.1.3. I can see data entered by AS in FH although if I try to modify I do not seem to be able to pull in the original data into AS. I see the individuals and navigate in AS but do not seem to be able pull their data in to modify it in AS. (hopefully that makes sense)

How/can I use AS to go back and tweak the original census data entered.

It isn't possible to edit an existing entry in AS: AS is used to create entries not edit them (although you can use it to add images to existing sources).

When an entry is created in AS, it scatters data across your file, into events, source text, etc. While it might be potentially possible in a future version to allow some of that data to be edited, much of it would be impossible to gather back together. Family Historian provides excellent facilities already to edit information and really AS duplicating that facility wouldn't be worth the effort for me to add that functionality for the few times when editing an entry is necessary.

The short answer is you can't.

AS is intended to capture NEW data sources, not modify old data.

Use the facilities of FH to modify that existing old data.
If you need help with that then please ask.
