gedcom census

Post by j9sunny » 29 Dec 2015 17:11

Apologies if this has been touched on but a search on the above words was unsuccessful. I have just installed newest version of FH plus Ancestral Sources on a new computer. I moved all the FH folders across, without a problem. I had Gedcom Census installed on the old pc, how do I go about copying that across plse? Or do I need to? Is the info embedded into my project?
Thanks, Janine

Gedcom Census was the name of the early versions of Nick Walker's Ancestral Sources program. So if you have successfully installed Ancestral Sources that is all you need, as it replaces the old Gedcom Census program.

Any data you added to your project using the old Gedcom Census program will be part of your project and will have been copied across with your FH folders.

For further guidance on moving from one computer to another, including transferring any customised settings, see how_to:move_settings|> Move Family Historian Settings and Projects.

as an aside, the site search is not very forgiving so this topic might help you in the future:
Searching the FHUG site (12768)
or go strait to the Knowledge Base item here:

For full details of moving from PC to PC see how_to:family_historian_migration_guide|> Family Historian V5 & V6 Migration Guide.

If you had any customised Templates in Gedcom Census then these will have to be re-entered into Ancestral Sources.

BTW: The Ancestral Sources Data Entry Plugin is very popular for launching AS from FH with the current Project, Individual, and Mode preselected.

Did you try searching the Knowledge Base?

Many thanks for everyone's assistance. I was asked whether I searched the knowledge base and I did but couldn't find my exact query - so thanks for links which I am about to read now.

Actually Mike I don't think Gedcom Census had templates but 5 years on I can't really remember!
