I've just downloaded version 5.0 but it doesn't show in the plug in drop down list on FH6, it still shows 4.6?
It has been saved and run but doesn't appear?

I think you are confusing version 5 of the Ancestral Sources program with the Ancestral Sources data entry plugin, which is version 4.6. The plugin launches the AS program for you, with the current individual pre-selected. The AS program is independent of the plugin, and can be opened direct without the plugin. When you open AS (either directly or via the plugin) its version number will be displayed at the top.

Ancestral Sources is not a plugin. It is a Windows program that runs independently of Family Historian. I use it all the time and do not use the plugin that Lorna referred to.

The plugin is just a means to start Ancestral Sources using the person that is currently the focus in Family Historian.

The AS program can in fact be used with any GEDCOM file, not just FH.

The Plugin guarantees that AS opens the current FH Project, which some users often get wrong, and wonder why their Project does not get updated. It also focusses on the current selected Individual, which saves time searching for them in AS. In addition the Plugin checks that only one copy of AS is installed (yes some users manage to install more than one) and checks that AS copy is the latest version, so you will not miss an update.
