Re: Boyds Marriage Index
Jerry, could you please be more specific about the difficulty ~ what details and what AS dialogue?

Re: Boyds Marriage Index
Hi Mike, I realised after I had to go out yesterday that my question was rather curt and inadequate. I meant to add to it this morning, but time just fled by.
I have some records from the second half of the 1700s which have only 7 pieces of information in addition to the source indicator - Boyds Marriage Index - Manin series- London. These are Year, Surname1, Forename1, Surname 2, Surname2, Parish, County.
When I try to enter these marriages using Ancestral Sources with Family Historian 6 open in the correct project AS requests information which is not available and without which it seems not to let me do a save.
Specifically it seems to want details that would appear on a 'Birth Certificate' which I do not have at this stage, such as ages & parents.
I want to capture these marriages within Family Historian at this stage so that they do not get forgotten whilst I seek out more detail.
I am doing a one-name study, my process is to capture each person or couple or family as I find them and to then tease out detail about them. You will appreciate that those records from pre 1837 may be the most interesting.
At present I am at a loss, all my attempts to enter these records in AS and directly in Family Historian are both inconsistent and messy.
Any guisdance would be most welcome.

Re: Boyds Marriage Index
I have just used AS to enter a Marriage with only the informatioin you mention, and it Saved OK to FH. I cannot see where the difficulty lies.
Yes, AS offers many options to enter lots of details to cater for all manner of Indexes and Certificates, but very little is mandatory. It may raise warnings that certain details have not been entered, but they can be ignored if necessary.
You say "it seems not to let me do a save" so please post a screenshot of the message.
Maybe you have not used AS very much and are unfamiliar with its capabilites and tolerances.

Re: Boyds Marriage Index
Thank you Mike,
I am a fairly new user of AS. Perhaps I need more practise. I'll go away and and try again and again . . .
Thank you

Re: Boyds Marriage Index
Hi Mike,
I have spent some time experimenting with AS and looking at the tutorials and now realise that the problem I have is only loosely related to AS but is more to do with FH. I propose to end this question and start again with the question that I really need to answer. That is 'Linking to sites and files outside of Family Historian'.
Thank you for your advice which has increased my familiarity with AS.
