Source Recordings FH/AS

Post by Tony_Fowler » 15 Jul 2015 16:47

I have been recording sources/citations via AS slowly for a while. I notice that they are all in the source records window of FH but they do not appear in the RH part of the individuals source box. Is this the norm. Do I have to use FH to record the sources here or am I totally stupid (as usual)?

Hi Tony.

May I suggest you undertake the tutorials in ancestralsources:index|> Ancestral Sources > User Guide especially the Examine Family Historian scripts at the end of each one.

You didn't say what types of Sources you have been adding: Census, Birth, Baptism, Marriage, Death or Burial. But if you select one of those Facts for which you have entered a Source then it will appear in the right-hand yellow Source Citations pane.

Alternatively, click on the Sources drop-list at the top of the yellow Source Citations pane, and all items with a Source are marked with an asterisk (*) and can be selected.

Also, on the Sources tab, select a Source Record and run the List All Citations for a Source Plugin to obtain a Result Set of all the Citations of that Source. Click on any one Item to open the Property Box details.

See glossary:sources|> Sources for more details.

Assuming you have used the default 'method 1' in Ancestral Sources then to see the source transcription you need to look at the source itself rather than the citation. So when you see the citation listed in the yellow citation pane that Mike referred to in his reply, click on it and then on the blue arrow pointing to the right and it will take you to the source itself.

Hope that helps

Thank you both. I very much appreciate your help. Sorry that I have not replied sooner but age etc. caught up with me for a while. I will now do what you advise and plough through the User guides. Something that I should have done before I started entering data. Will let you know how I am getting on idc.
Regards
Tony
