Auto-text Repository Keywords
I use a pretty simple sourcing "template". A birth certificate would look like "Rep CR-birth year, cert.nr., extra ref. info (www date)".
Here Rep is a short reference to the repository, CR is Civil Registration and www means I got the info from the website of Rep on date date.
Ancestral Sources is very versatile in creating the source title, but to create the above I seem to need some extra keywords:
- {REPOSITORY}, if possible with some modifiers like NAME (or TITLE) and SHORT (I use an abbreviated name - log name, like "Short name - Long name"; would be great to have access to both parts). I would then use something like {REPOSITORY.NAME.SHORT};
- {TODAY} as a keyword to enter the date I accessed the website.
(www date) is conditional: it may be that I went to the archive and made a copy of the certificate. The date is obsolete then; the information on the copy of the original certificate isn't likely to change (as may be the case with website provided info). So, if no date: suppress (www date).
Please let me know what you think of the suggestion.
Thanks, Joop

{REPOSITORY} and subfields is a good idea.
{SYSTEM.DATE} already returns today's date, but I am not clear how AS would know the date you accessed the website.

Thanks Mike,
I forgot about the system date. Works fine for me (as it is the date I access the website and enter the data).
Let's hope Nick agrees with the Repository also.
Cheers, Joop

Re: Auto-text Repository Keywords
Thanks for the repository suggestion Joop. There will be repository auto-text keywords in the next version of AS. However, there won't be the SHORT modifier as there isn't a standard way to enter a short repository name.
Best wishes
Nick

Thanks Nick,
Short would have been nice, but I agree that for that to work you need some kind of convention and what works for her doesn't always for him, now does it?

Re: Auto-text Repository Keywords
Perhaps what is needed is something like the FH TextPart() function with a selectable delimiter, then your 'Repository Short' would be something like REPOSITORY.NAME.TEXTPART("-",1).

Re: Auto-text Repository Keywords
Yes Mike, that was my thought too. A function is required rather than a 'short' keyword.
