Auto-text templates and associated individuals

Post by setait » 28 Apr 2015 18:24

I've been creating an auto-text template (in Ancestral Sources V 5) for the much fuller information provided in Scottish death certificates for 1855 and have come across a puzzle.

I can successfully use the {ASSOCLIST[Parent death].COMMACR} keyword to add the names of the deceased's children to the template (once I've added them to the list of associated individuals), but can't work out how to add their ages.

The help files say that there is a sub-tag of KEYPERSON.AGE.SHORT which also applies to the ASSOCPERSON keyword - does this sub-tag also apply to the parameters in the ASSOCLIST keyword or does it only apply to individual person tags?

It's not a major issue - I've already substantially reduced the amount of typing I've got to do to transcribe the certificate - I'm just not sure whether it's not possible, or if it's that my attempts are incorrectly structured :?

Hi

You'll need to edit the source text produced by Auto-text prior before saving your file. The associated individuals data is there so that the information can be saved to local notes, etc. depending on your settings: there aren't fields for age. The support for how they are displayed by auto-text is fairly limited and will inevitably need to be manually 'tweaked' before saving.

Best wishes

Nick

Thanks for clarifying Nick. That's not a problem - I was just trying to get as much as possible into the auto-text to save on transcription and typo errors but I realise that it would be unrealistic to expect the auto-text to cover everything :-)
