Month in Caps

Post by hwillk » 15 Dec 2014 18:22

Is there a way to display the month in dates in mixed case? Such as Nov instead of NOV.

Where in Ancestral Sources are you talking about?

I thought in most cases it allowed either case to be entered.

Also in Templates you can use =TITLE[{DATE}] to force mixed case.

I either enter the date in mixed case or using only numerals.
Caps are forced in the title of Deaths, Burials, Marriages, and Baptisms.
Here is a copy of the Death Image Title Template: {SOURCETYPE} {DATE} {KEYPERSON}.
Even the example under this template on the Ancestral Sources Options page shows the month in all caps.
I have been altering the month in FH after import from AS.

I would obviously bow to Nicks knowledge on this as he may have a better suggestion, but I have used {DATE.MONTH.SHORT} {YEAR} (or a subset of) if I want the date to include the month as mixed case - this option gives, as an example "Mar 1851"

As I said above, replace {DATE} with =TITLE[{DATE}] wherever required in any Title/Image Templates and any Autotext Templates.

Mike,
That works. I didn't understand in your first reply that I was to edit the templates.
Thank you

Funnily enough it has been pointed out during the beta testing for the next version that there is some inconsistency in how {DATE} displays. It ought to be Nov rather than NOV and that is fixed in the next version.

Nick, if not already so, will that also apply to all the other Keywords?
{DATEREGISTERED}
{KEYPERSON.BIRTHDATE}
{KEYPERSON.DEATHDATE}

Do they need .CAPS variants as per {DATE.MONTH.SHORT.CAPS}?

Hi Mike

Yes I'm having a general look at how dates are displayed and am aiming for consistency - Peter R pointed some of these issues out to me. For example Birthdate and Deathdate don't have any of the sub-tags. {DATE} shows month in caps (NOV) but {DATEREGISTERED} is title case (Nov) and the Help suggests it displays the full month name (November)! I think its been like that for quite a while but I can't remember anyone pointing it out before.

I'm still hoping to release this before Christmas but I still have a few (minor) reported issues to work through. I guess Mike you've been a bit busy with the FH 6 release and all the support you've been offering. In some ways that's a relief because you always end up finding loads of problems :) but of course really that's a good thing...
