Download Canada 1916 (1921) Templates

Post by mollythecollie » 16 Aug 2014 13:14

I carried out the instructions and downloaded the .xml files. The files were automatically put into the download files folder (I use Chrome Browser). However I could not copy them into Ancestral Sources Setting folder. I tried cutting, I tried copying with the same results ie no option to paste them into the settings folder.

Is this a fault with chrome? or should I download them using Windows Explorer instead.

Help please

Regards

Sylvia

Sylvia,

Instructions are here: fhugdownloads:contents:template_census_canada_1921|> Ancestral Sources Template ~ Census Canada 1921.

You have to import from Ancestral Sources, not copy to.

Good luck.

There are several ways to install these templates:
  • Use Chrome or any browser to download template to the Downloads folder. In AS use Census > Census Templates > Import and browse to this Downloads folder to select and Open the template file. AS should remember to use that Downloads folder in future.
  • Use Chrome or any browser to download template to the Downloads folder. Use Windows Explorer to Copy/Move this file to the ...\Ancestral Sources\Settings folder. In AS use Census > Census Templates > Import and Open the template file (AS should default to its Settings folder).
  • Use Chrome or any browser to download template directly to the ...\Ancestral Sources\Settings folder by browsing in the Save As window. In AS use Census > Census Templates > Import and Open the template file (AS should default to its Settings folder).
If not sure where the AS Settings folder is located, then use Tools > Options and check the Settings Folder entry.
