Hi
How do I turn off the residence attribute which is generated by AS please? It duplicates the census place and address and is added to the parents when there is a baptism or a wedding.
The latest thing I have noticed is when doing burials - a residence fact is generated for the deceased for AFTER they have died....
Help please?
Thanks

Re: Residence Attribute
Firstly, from your [FHU] E-mail you were also concerned about Residence details appearing in FH Reports.
In FH Report Options on the Main tab there are the Exclude List options.
Click Edit List and just select Residence to exclude them from the Report.
This has the benefit of retaining those useful facts in your database but omit them from Reports.
Regarding AS, there is no global disable Residence option.
Census:
If both Census and Residence facts are being created then you may have changed the default AS Options.
Use Tools > Options > Census settings and centrally near the bottom ensure only Census Fact is selected.
Baptism
AS only creates parent Residence facts if you enter details into its Father's/Mother's Residence Place/Address boxes.
If you do not want those Residence facts, then leave those boxes empty.
Marriage
AS has no ability to enter the parents Residence for a Marriage so I don't know where that is coming from.
On the Main Info tab, are you sure you are entering the Place & Address of the church?
Burial
Presumably on the Main Info tab you are entering Place of Death which may create the Residence fact.
Are you also entering a Death Date ?
In FH try using Tools > Re-order Out-of-Sequence Data to see if that repositions the Residence into chronological order.

Re: Residence Attribute
Hi Willowherb
I agree with all of Mike's comments regarding census, baptism and marriage sources. For Burial sources residence events will only be created if you're entering data into the 'Individual Residence' field. The date of the residence will match the death date. The date for the residence will be the date of death entered. If you don't enter a date of death then it will estimate the death based on what you have selected in the Burial Options. By default the estimated date of death will be 3 days before the burial date but you can change that if you like and can also opt to have the date recorded as a 'before' date if you prefer.
Best wishes
Nick

Re: Residence Attribute
Hi
Thanks for the info on the reports - I will certainly do that - if only to save paper!!
As for the other matter, on the Burial I was not entering place of death as that is not included in the parish register - just residence. However, I thought I was stopping it updating death facts on exit as I know when the people died from other sources so that fact was there already and I did not let AS overwrite the Death fact with an estimate. But when I checked there was a residence fact for the day after true death on several records.
I was happy to let it generate the correct text for the source, but just didn't want a Residence attribute generated.
I think I will have to have a play around with this
Thanks again to all

Re: Residence Attribute
There are a number of techniques you could try.
Firstly, you don't say whether for the Death entries you entered the Individual Residence in the AS Main Info tab.
I think this would create a Residence fact dated with the Death Date.
Assuming you did, then when entering Burial details, ensure the Residence tab Individual Residence, and Main Info tab Death Date have the same values as above.
Then AS will NOT duplicate the Residence fact since it has the same Place/Address and Date.
Another option is to enter the Individual Residence details, etc and create the Auto Text for the Source Record.
Then just before you Save, untick the Auto option bottom left and Clear the Individual Residence details.
This inhibits the Residence fact, because there are no details, but retains the Auto Text for the Source.
