I've hit a snag while entering Burial Records.
I had successfully entered a record, and had asked AS to keep all the data except the name, because I was planning to enter someone else on the same page. At least, that is what I meant to do.
I returned to AS, chose 'Add Unrelated Individual'.
The box where the individual's name goes on the left hand side is greyed out. I can see the new individual on the right hand side, but when I press the 'select' button, nothing happens.
I shut AS down and went into Family Historian, and entered my new individual there. Selected her record and used the Ancestral Sources Data Entry Plugin to re-enter Ancestral Sources. Selected her record and then when I press the 'select' button, nothing. The Individual box on the left-hand-side is greyed out as before.
If I shut everything down and start AS from its desktop shortcut, and choose the project, if I choose burial records, I still get the greyed-out individual box. If I switch to Baptism records, everything is normal, and I can choose this individual. Choosing 'Clear/Reset Current Entry' has no effect -- the individual box is still greyed out.
I ran 'Validate' from the Family Historian menu and FH reported no errors in the file.

Yes, I can recreate that scenario with any Individual who has no Relations, both for Burial and Death entries.
Perhaps Nick could look into this?

Re: cannot add invidual -- box greyed out
That is indeed the case, Mike. I hadn't started researching this person and was putting the burial record into the file as a seed entry. So all I have is the burial date. I have no birth / baptism / census / death records in the queue to enter.
For a while it seemed that AS had locked itself up entirely, leaving me unable to choose any person for a burial record, but now that I have entered some Marriage records and come back to entering Burial Records, I can enter burials for other people who were already in the file.
The problem is, as you said, the individuals for whom there is no other information than the burial. Which makes it a bit tricky when one is working backwards in time from known data as one is supposed to do.

Re: cannot add invidual -- box greyed out
Thanks for reporting this bug - despite beta testing and over 1500 downloads so far you're the first to spot this as far as I know. It will be fixed in the next update whenever that may be.
For now you could do the following as a workaround:
1) Add your unrelated individual
2) Add a new temporary child to them (give them a name like AAAA so you can see them easily later)
3) Select your individual and save the entry
4) When you're back in Family Historian delete the dummy child
Best wishes
Nick

Re: cannot add invidual -- box greyed out
Thanks, Nick!
For females, your dummy child solution is best, since there is no telling whether the deceased is a spinster or widow. For males, a dummy father with the same surname could be left in place as a stub for later.
In the meantime, when I have matching baptism / burial records I will add the baptisms first; the baptism records will supply the needed relatives. That should cut down the number of instances that might trigger the bug.
Cheers,
Jan
