Death Cert - Informant

Post by rodit » 18 Apr 2014 05:16

I have just downloaded v4 of AS and started to enter the death info from the certs I have. Upon getting to Informant and selecting 'individual in File', the Informant box is 'greyed out' and the ID box has N/A in it.

Is this a little glitch, or am I missing something simple? Rest of it is great, particularly as I can keep my earlier source records.

Hi Roger

You need to select the informant from the same lists on the right of the screen as you would select the deceased individual. Either from the list of all individuals or parents/spouses/siblings/children lists.

Best wishes

Also remember to read through the AS Help pages on Death Sources that explain features such as how to enter Informants.

Thanks for the reply, guys.
Nick - I knew it would be something easy.
Mike - I had looked at the Help column, but hadn't drilled down enough.

I'm back!
The informant data is not appearing in the Text. I am on auto text, 1837. I have looked at the template and it appears to be correct - I must admit that I did a bit of an edit in order to separate the fields. I put a hyphen between signature, description and residence. The hyphen appears, but no text.
I copied the original text first and put it back, but to no avail. Same result. I have tried re loading AS, but it comes back the same.
Have I stuffed it up?
Mea culpa?

No I can see there is a problem there. I'll probably need to issue a minor update soon to solve this. For now click the Reset button on the informant before selecting.

Thanks for letting me know about this

Just to confirm that this is corrected in version 4.0.1 of Ancestral Sources which I've just made available.

Thanks again for reporting this problem
