Merging Events?

I have a file where I can see multiple instances of 1 event, ie 3 births. All details appear the same appart from the source. Is there any way I can merge events? The individual people have been merged as have the families, but I am left with duplicate events.

I can't think of a quick way using the normal interface other than copying and pasting the sources to one of the events and deleting the others.

If you fancy a challenge it would be possible to write a plugin to search for 'duplicate' events and merge them.
