Counting records

How can I count all the names in the family tree. I suppose counting them one by one in the name index is one way, I am hoping there is a better method.

Any ideas?

By 'family tree' do you mean the entire FH database, or are you referring to a particular 'family tree' Diagram?

For the entire database, use File > File Statistics.
The Individual Records count is the number of Individuals in your data.

If you have an Book Index then save the Book and open it in Word or Adobe Reader.
Select all the lines in the Index an Copy & Paste them into Notepad.
Ensure View > Status Bar is ticked.
Scroll to the last line and click the cursor there, and the Status Bar at the bottom gives the line count.

Hi tatewise,

Thanks, the file statistics worked great. It was so easy that I am embarrased to admit I could not figure it out or find the answer in the help screen.

p.s. I now know I have 14,407 individuals in the file.
