Named List Members query

Post by BillH » 13 Apr 2012 00:37

I've read through 'Getting the most from Family Historian' and looked through the help and the forums, but I can't seem to figure out how to do something.

I created a named list and populated it with some sources.  In the properties for the source list I checked 'Record Editing Enabled'.

I then created a custom query from the Named List Members query and changed it to be Query Type 'Source' and changed it to display the source, type, repository, and note.  I ran the query and it correctly shows these fields for all the sources in the named list.

What I was hoping to be able to do was to edit the note for each of these sources.  However, the fields are not 'editable'.  I thought that was what the 'Record Editing Enabled' check mark would allow.

Is there some way to make the fields editable in the result set?  Is there some other way to edit multiple records like this?

Thanks,

Bill

Assuming you are using V5 you should be able to double click on the note field and the Property box will jump to the field you need to edit.

What Record Editing Enabled allows is to edit the fields directly in the Named List entries, similar to the same entries in their Record Window.

Jane, yes... that does work.

Mike, I see.  If I click on the + sign to expand the entry I can edit right there.

What I was really hoping to be able to do was to use the result set kind of like an Excel spreadsheet and just copy and paste from one cell to another.  Looks like that isn't possible.

Thanks,

Bill

In the Named List edit mode you can Cut/Copy & Paste between any text fields that are open.

Mike,

That's what I'll probably end up doing.

Thanks,

Bill
