Does anyone know if Family Historian 5.07 will run ok on Windows 8,  I am due to upgrade from Vista at the end of this month?

Thanks
Dave.

I've been running the final release of Windows 8 for a couple of weeks now (and really like it which I wasn't expecting!) but not tried installing FH yet. Will have a go later if I get time.

You're the first person I've heard that says they like it, Nick. I may have to give it a try after all!

Family Historian runs fine as far as I can see, I have 8 on an old laptop and it seems OK, not sure about the Metro interface (really needs a touch screen), but once you get back to the desktop and add a program to give you the start button back it works pretty well like 7.

I read so many people saying Metro was great on touch screens but not with a mouse but within a few mins I'd worked out what it was doing and it all seems very obvious now. The integration with Windows Store and being able to easily download apps and have them install without asking any questions (similar to the way Android and IOS work) is a refreshing change. It's Windows 7 with improvements and a more interesting Start menu so what's not to like? :)

Yeah OK fair point :) but I've read it will be £24.99 in the UK which is certainly cheaper than Windows upgrades usually cost.

I tried it at work and just used the Windows button on the keyboard. It does work well on a touch screen.

If you have a dual monitor set-up you can have Metro on one screen and the desktop on the other. You can then play with both interfaces at the same time. [rolleyes]
