Saving while merging

I am merging several large files, and I don't want to check them in one sitting. How can I save part way through please?

Unless anyone knows differently, I don't think you can save partway through.

If you look in the Help under 'Features of the Merge/Compare Dialog' you will see at the end of that article a tip for dealing with large files.

That is correct you cannot save a File Merge halfway through.

But as the Help says, you can repeatedly Merge the same File, with increasing Null Merges each session.

Alternatively, it may be possible to split your original File into a number of smaller Files and Merge each one separately.

Do remember to perform a full validity check on each File before Merging.
e.g.
File > Validate
Tools > Find Uncategorised Data or V5 Plugin UDF List
Tools > Work with External File Links

Thank you both very much. It's a shame there isn't any easy way of saving as one goes along in merge.

You can Vote for this enhancement in the Wish List at Ref 113: Merge/Compare Save Restore function.

BTW: Also don't forget to check every tab in the Merge/Compare dialogue.
It is not enough to just check the Individual Records.
You must check Family, Source, etc too.
