Saving projects

Post by Famagusta » 03 May 2013 06:46

I am having trouble saving my projects, a subject which doesn't seem to be covered in the latest ' Getting to know ... ' book or in the 'Help' section.

I have imported and saved as a project the GEDCOM file and it appears as one of my projects however when I try to open the project it tells me the file cannot be opened.  Why is this?  The only way I can open it is by going to the backup and then restoring it which is a long winded way of doing things.  Also after saving and backing up my work the same thing happens next time I try to open that project.  I am obviously doing something wrong but what?

I keep my FT stuff on an external file not my Desktop C: drive, does this make a difference?  Also I would like to save to a data stick or CD but that doesn't work either!

Please can anyone help I am using V5

You say 'it appears as one of my projects'.
Presumably therefore, this Project is listed in the File > Project Window.
If you click the Help button there is plenty of advice.
Just click on the Project's name to highlight it, and click the Open Project button.
While selected, use More Tasks > Default Project to make it the default Project to open automatically when you run FH.
