V5 Projects not backing up to correct folder

I recently upgraded to Version 5, at the same time as acquiring a laptop running Windows 8. I did the import slowly and following the instructions and it seemed to be almost seamless. But there's a problem.

I've only just noticed that my backups are going to the Downloads Folder, perhaps because they joined FH 5 via that folder.

How do I change the settings please so that they save or backup to Family Historian Projects. And do the GEDcom go to Family History Files?

I'm in a muddle.

Thank you!

There is a Backup option on the Preferences dialog where you can specify the Default Backup Folder.

As Peter says, use Tools > Preferences > Backup tab and set the Default Backup Folder.

I do not understand
And do the GEDcom go to Family History Files?
What are Family History Files?

While on the subject of migrating from PC to PC, did you ever customise Diagrams, Reports, Queries, Facts, etc, etc?
If so, have you checked that all those customisations have come across to FH V5 on Windows 8?

If they have not come across, then use the FH V5 Plugin Backup and Restore Family Historian Settings available from the Plugin Store.
Checkout the Help & Advice in the Knowledge Base, particularly the Advice on Moving from PC to PC.
