Hi,
One possibility is that you are not using a project, but rather just a GEDCOM file. In the title bar of the main program window does it say 'Family Historian Project'? Since the medium and full backups are backing up project information, they are not available if you are not using a project.
From the program help:
Backup Types
Each Family Historian project is associated with a folder on your computer. This folder is likely to contain numerous files and subfolders. Family Historian provides the following 3 different types of backup:
Small
This is the smallest and quickest backup option. In this option, only the GEDCOM file itself is backed up. This is the only Backup type which can be used if you are editing a standalone GEDCOM file (i.e. not part of a Family Historian project).

The most common reason for this is copying or renaming gedcoms rather than renaming the Project.

This problem has happened to me.
I always used a Project file and was always given the option of three choices to back it up.
I thought I would move it to Sky Drive and in doing so copied the folder to there. But since then I was only offered the choice of small back up and the other two choices were greyed out.
I have removed the file from Sky Drive as I wasn't happy with it being there. But still haver only the single choice to back it up.
From what you say do I need to save it under another name to restore the full 3 choices to back it up

It is probably not simply a matter of file naming.
It sounds as if in copying to SkyDrive and back you have disrupted the Project folder & file structure such that Family Historian no longer recognises it as a Project.
See the Knowledge Base Project Structure section for details.
From this you may be able to reconstruct your Project.
Otherwise, hopefully you have suitable Windows backups of your Project that can be restored.

I stopped using Sky Drive because it started deleting files so I have lost all trust for the product.

I only put a copy of my files in the skydrive folder, just use a batch file which runs when i log in to the pc to copy the files over.
