Hi. I am trying to arrange photos in my report. I've tried different options and the one I would like to use is to put the photos 'In rows above the text left aligned'. I am using the medium-sized photos, which allows plenty of room for a row of three. However, it only ever puts two side by side, with the third one down with one of the spouse photos, giving me three lines with two, instead of two rows of three. Am I asking for the impossible? Help please.

Have you tried adjusting the size of the images slightly manually, it could be your printable areas is a touch smaller than standard also play around with the inter-image spacing.

Thanks Jane, i have tried adjusting the spacing to the right and left of the pictures, even Custom, down to 0.01' to no avail. Just to note that the sizes of pictures in the Options-Pictures tab shows the width smaller than the height, although this is not the case.
If I change the size from Medium to Small, then I get three of the one person plus two of their spouse on the first line, with the remainder of the spouse on the second line, even though there is plenty of room for a third spouse.
I just can't get either, three larger pictures of one person on one line, with three pictures of their spouse on the second line; or, six smaller pictures on the one line.
I'm not certain how many of my photos would be over 1MB, but not being at all tech minded, I would have thought that a 'linked' head shot would be fairly small. There would be too many involved anyway to change their sizes now.

Jane, I thought afterwards that perhaps you meant reducing the actual physical size of the photos on the page by narrowing the image. I first measured from the left-hand side of the page to the left-hand edge of the centred photo and compared that to the distance from the right-hand edge of the page to the right-hand edge of the same photo. The right side was about 1/8' larger. I assume therefore that is why the third photo won't fit in.
I next tried narrowing one of the centred photos to increase the distance to the right-hand edge, but of course the opposing distance was also increased, so I gained nothing.
Is this perhaps something that could be corrected?

Apart from the Pictures tab, do all the other Report Options have Installation Settings?
If not, then to preserve those settings, use Save Report As > Custom Report Type and give it a memorable Custom Report Name.
This can be accessed via Publish > Custom Reports and choosing the Custom Report Name.
Now ensure all Report Options are reset by clicking the Installation Settings button on each tab.
On the Pictures tab, increase the Max Pics counts, and choose In Rows Above Text, Left-Aligned.
The Small picture size should be Height 0.71' Width 1'.
This should display five pictures per row.
If this works then presumably some other Report Options settings are upsetting the layout.
Use Picture Gaps to reduce 1st value Gap to Left of Picture and 3rd value Gap to Right of Picture both to 0'.
This should display seven pictures per row.
Now set Medium picture size of Height 1.42' Width 2'.
This should display three pictures per row, even with the Picture Gaps restored to the default 0.15'.
With the Custom picture size you can set any Height or Width values, except 0'.
Try setting the Height to 9' and the Width to 2'.
This should still display three pictures per row, even with the Picture Gaps restored to the default 0.15'.
Then experiment with wider pictures and smaller gaps.
Width 2.3' with gaps 0' should still give three per row.
Then reduce the Height to between 2' and 3', and maybe increase the gaps slightly, until the desired effect is achieved.
which is not the default settings.the sizes of pictures in the Options-Pictures tab shows the width smaller than the height

Two important considerations not mentioned so far:
- Paper size: I certainly get three 'Medium' pictures across the page if I'm using A4.
- Margins: if the left and/or right margins (on the Page Layout tab) are increased too much, then there is room for fewer pictures.

Note that Paper size is set via Report Options using the Printer Setup button on right, or via the main menu File > Print Setup option.

Eureka! I have three medium pictures per line. Thankyou everybody for your input, but it was PeterR's simple suggestion to adjust the margin which did the trick. I had previously widened the inner margins to allow for any binding, so I have now slightly narrowed the outer margin to compensate.
Thanks again, john T.

Glad it is all sorted now.
I advise that to preserve those settings, use Save Report As > Custom Report Type and give it a memorable Custom Report Name.
This can be accessed via Publish > Custom Reports and choosing the Custom Report Name.
Otherwise, an accidental use of the Installation Settings button could undo everything.
Make sure you backup this Custom Report Type.
The Knowledge Base article Backup and Recovery - What is not backed up? gives some advice on how to proceed.

Thanks Mike, I now have a custom report. I am in the habit of backing up my FH file to an external hard drive, although this does sit next to my laptop. I also back up to two USB sticks. Each backup is a full project backup. Norton also has my files backed up.
As with everybody, I hope I don't need them.
Cheers, John T.

John, please check the Knowledge Base article Backup and Recovery - What is not backed up?.
Backing up your Project Folder (or even My Documents folder) does NOT necessarily backup Custom Reports, nor most other customisations and preferences.
Also do not become complacent. One day everyone will need those backups, either because of accidental corruption, or hardware failure, or when moving to a new PC, or upgrading to a new Windows version.

Hi Mike, I went to the site as suggested and downloaded your plug-in (the first one I have ever downloaded). It told me I had successfully done so.
This will seem funny to you, but I can't now find where it is, or how to use it.

I presume you downloaded the Plugin via Tools > Plugins > Plugin Store.
Use Tools > Plugins > Help and read about the Plugins dialogue window and its buttons.
Simply select the Plugin in this dialogue and click Run.
Alternatively, click More>>, select the Plugin, and tick Add to Tools Menu.
Thereafter, you can invoke the Plugin directly on the Tools menu.
