IF and when I download a gedcom file I normally set the 'Automatic Source Citation'. This works fine but sets itself on every 'field' level whereas I would prefer it to show only on the 'Name' field and not say 'Birth' & 'Death' etc. and any other fields.
I only need the 1 source whereas the way it currently works I end up with possibly thousands of automatic entries when I could do with only a fraction.
Is there a way of either setting the Source for Name only or a way of deleting the entries that I don't want under 'Births' and 'Deaths'?

I am unsure about what mechanism you are using.
Simply downloading and opening a GEDCOM file has no associated Automatic Source Citation capability.
In any case Automatic Source Citation can only be set for one Source Record.
Do you mean File > Merge/Compare File that offers Source Citation?
With this again there is only the one Source Record, but every updated field has a Citation linked to it.
These Citations may be in any Records :- Individual, Family, Note, Multimedia, etc, and the large quantity does no harm.
If you really want to get rid of them, then use the Plugin List All Citations for a Source.
Choose the File Merge Source and look at the Result Set.
Click on the Description column heading to sort it.
All the Name (NAME) and Record (IND) and Record (FAM) entries will be grouped together for easy identification.
Select the Citation column entries for all the others you want to delete and press the Delete keyboard key.

I'm not quite sure if I explained myself correctly.
If I download a gedcom file and use 'Set the Automatic Source Citation' then in the Main Details of the Property Box under 'Name' there is often a 'Sources For' citation under the right hand Yellow box with Entry Date; Assessment; and/or Note.
It is also often the case that similar information shows under Birth*; Death* and Marriage*.
As I really only need to know that the 'Name' was the original Source is it possible to remove the 'Duplicate' Source under Birth; Death and Marriage.
In terms of data volume it probably doesn't make a lot of difference but it's a tidy up exercise.

Automatic citation will add a citation to each new piece of information, while it's turned on and you are entering information.
If the sources are there when you open your downloaded gedcom then they were in the original file. I am not clear why you want to get rid of them, they are not hurting and make it clear than not only the name, but the rest of the record came from the gedcom.
If you mean you are doing a merge and the citations are being created during the merge then change the setting for the citations to not update fields, but just to add them at the record level.

It is still unclear to me what commands you are using to 'download a gedcom file'.
Can you please post examples of the exact FH commands you use.
After using Tools > Set Automatic Source Citation, any new Record, Name, or Fact you enter will have a Citation linked to the Source Record you nominated.
Many users consider it important to keep track of the Source of every piece of data ~ Name, Birth, Marriage, Occupation, Census, Death, Probate, etc.
Sometimes the same Fact may have several corroborating or conflicting or partial Sources, and it is useful to have them all logged, so you know from where the Fact details were derived.
Initially all the Facts for one person may come from just one Source, and it is tempting to just have one Citation for the Name or .
But over time other Facts may be added from other Sources, and it will then be unclear where those initial Facts were derived.
However, if you really want to get rid of those Citations, then use the Plugin as I described above.
