Too many spouses shown.

Hello,
When I start up Family Historian 7 it shows my name and the data I entered for myself but it also shows the names and information of my first and second spouses. I have been married twice but don't want to be constantly reminded of it. Is there a way to display at startup the information about my second marriage while still retaining all the data I had entered about the first marriage?. In a nutshell, it shows both spouses on the screen when I'd prefer it to show only my second spouse.
Can someone advise how to do this please?

Whenever you are displayed as the focus person in the Focus window both of your spouses will also be displayed.
However there are a couple of ways you could avoid seeing that screen when FH starts up.
FH opens with the focus on the file root, which is presumably you. So you could change the file root to someone else (perhaps your second spouse?). To do this, right-click on the person in the Focus Window and then choose Make File Root.
Another option is to set FH to open on the Records window instead of the Focus window. To do this, use Tools > Preference > Start up and tick ‘Display the Records Window instead of the Focus Window’.

You are running FH V5 which as Lorna says opens with the Focus person as the File Root.
If you upgraded to FH V7, then it opens the same Focus person as was in Focus when FH was closed.
Then you can keep yourself as the File Root (which is useful for default Relationship displays) and yet FH will start the Focus window with anyone else in Focus.
Another more complex solution that might work, is to create a duplicate Individual record for yourself.
Remove your 1st wife from its current link to you and add her to the duplicate of you (along with any children).
That will form a completely independent family branch that won't usually appear in the Fous window at all and also won't appear in Diagrams and Reports either based on your File Root original Individual record.

Thankyou Lorna and Tatewise,
Your solutions make good sense, I'll give them a try.
"You are running FH V5 "
For years I used FH version 5 in my Windows 7 computer but I switched to being a full time Linux user with Linux Mint 2.0 installed on my other desktop pc. I tried using the free Linux family tree programs such as Gramps and Ancestris but they were not as good as Family Historian 5 which I was familiar with.
Then I discovered a great, easy to use, emulator program called Crossover which allows many Windows programs to be installed legally on Linux. Browsing through the list of Windows programs I found Family Historian was listed and was said to work well in Linux. I had to download the installer .exe file from the FH website and point Crossover to it when doing the install.
It all went very well except I now have version 7 which I will have to buy when the 30 day free trial runs out. That's a bit annoying because I had already owned the paid for version 5 in my obsolete Windows 7 pc.
Anyway, for those interested, FH V7 seems to work flawlessly in Linux Mint when installed via Crossover, so I am very happy about that.

redx593, please update your profile to show that you're using V7, to help people better answer your queries in future. Click on your username (top right), the Profile, then Edit Profile.

All done, sorry 'bout that.
Double clicking on the 2nd spouse removed the 1st spouse from view and when I closed and restarted the program only the 2nd spouse view was shown. So this is what I was hoping to achieve, problem solved.
Thanks very much for the good advice one and all.

As Mike explained, the default setting in V7 is for the Focus window to open on the last person who was in focus. (This option can be changed in Tools> Preferences > Start up.) By clicking on the second spouse you made them the focus person. Bear in mind that if you happen to have a different person in focus when you close the program it will re-open on that person.

See the FHUG Knowledge Base article
Running Family Historian on Crossover that you may find useful.
See FH Store webpage
https://store.family-historian.co.uk/pr ... 7-upgrade/ that offers a discount for version 5 users which is normally 20%.

I much appreciate the time you took to post those links. It seems there is a 20% saving for V5 owners. That's good to know.
So far I've had no issues with V7 in Linux, but I take note of the Crossover link for future reference.
Thanks again.
