Deleting duplicate boxes in the Focus Window
Is there any way of deleting a duplicate box for somebody in the Focus Window without deleting that person altogether? Or am I going to have to rewrite that part of, or the whole Tree?
Sorry cannot show screenshot example, as I tried, but it doesn't work; my computer (Windows 10) insists I'm trying to copy and paste, which FHUG doesn't accept (why not?).
Thanks, Maureen

Re: Deleting duplicate boxes in the Focus Window
To add a screenshot to your post, use the Attachments tab below the box where you write your reply and click Add Files to browse for the file you want. Or, as it says there, you can drag and drop the file into the message box.
An individual will appear twice in the focus window if they have two family records. Normally this only happens if they have two marriages. However it can arise if you have accidentally created two family records for the same couple (of if you have merged individual records but not the corresponding family records). When we have seen your screenshot we can advise further on what to do.

I went to attachments and did what it said, including making it into a zip file, and it still didn't work.

Drag and drop the screenshot into the reply window, and then select Attachedments and Place in Line.

Re: Deleting duplicate boxes in the Focus Window
Maureen, that is very helpful but what is hidden off the bottom of the window?
Is it a blank pale blue bar with a Children: 0 Sex Birth Death Rel. bar below and no children listed?

Re: Deleting duplicate boxes in the Focus Window
Sorry for the delay in replying ~ I've been watching the Wimbledon Tennis Final.
OK, that problem is caused by an extra Family record coupling George and Susannah which needs to be deleted.
Have you any explanation for how that spurious Family record might have been created?
To remove that record first open the Records Window and then open the Families tab.
If no Families tab is shown, then use Tools > Preferences > Records Window and set Families to Always show.
Ensure the Family Records are listed in alphabetic order by clicking the first column heading.
Scroll down to find two adjacent records named ...of George PORTER and Susannah PUTTOCK
The one with 0 Children and probably a higher Record Id needs to be deleted, so select it and hit the keyboard Delete key.
You need to check if there are any other duplicate records in any of the Records Window tabs.

Re: Deleting duplicate boxes in the Focus Window
Hi Mike
Thank you for that, it worked well. As to how it happened in the first place, I don't really know. Still it's gone now.
I'm grateful for the help, and am now going to check the rest of the records.
Hope you enjoyed the tennis.
