Because reasons, I intend to embark on a research project tracking every individual named Mary Ann Harper (plus variants of the forename -- Mary, Ann, Mary Anne, Mary Annie etc) born between 1860 and 1870) based on birth/baptism/census records) from cradle to grave.
My instincts say to use Excel (the screen-scraper I'll use to gather records in bulk exports to Excel) but I'm interested to find out if anyone has used FH to do something similar, and any tips they might offer.
I don't need advice on other techniques for identifying her, thanks.

Helen
For my One Name study I did this for when there was ready online access to the US Social Security Death Index. I scraped the data into an excel spreadsheet and massaged it in Excel and then did a CSV import to FH using my own CSV to Gedcom conversion tool. I then used the Find Duplicates plugin to run through to tie up any duplicates.
Firefox has a screen scraping plugin and there is also Outwit Hub. However, there may be fair use policies that you could breach by using screen scraping software.

I use Outwit Hub, but only at a pace that matches what I could do manually by selecting the text on a page and doing cut and paste.
