query grids

When I get the results from my custom queries, they are displayed in a grid format. I was wondering if there is a way to darken the grid color. Right now, it is a very light gray color, and if you have a few lines with very little information, it makes it hard to read.

If you mean the Text, try experimenting with Tools > Preferences > Query Window > Colours.
If you mean the background, there's a wish list item you could vote for:
Dark Mode option

Some columns are black when they are linked to data, the other ordinary columns are grey.
As Helen says, use the Query Window > Colours option and set Ordinary Text to a darker colour by double-clicking the Colour box and choosing dark blue or dark brown to differentiate them from Data-Linked text.

I have mine set to black for non-data text and blue for data text so that it is consistent with how links are displayed in the Rich Text editor. However, I read the original post as referring to the actual lines on the grid, which are very faint. They can't be changed, hence the Wish List item Helen linked to.

I did mean the background, not the text. I will vote for the Dark Mode Option.

I agree with the lines being very faint in the grid making it difficult, I believe row highlighting as has been introduced on the Records Window would be a good solution.
As the OP observed when data is sparse in the results window it is difficult to accurately read across especially on lower font scalings unless one manually highlights the row cells.

Yes, row highlighting would probably be an acceptable alternative to darker grid lines.
Wish List
Ref 567 Highlight selected Row(s) in Records Window, Result Sets, etc is still open because although most row highlighting has been implemented in FH V7 it does not yet include Query/Plugin Result Set row highlighting. So if you Vote for that item, add a comment saying it is the Result Set highlighting that you need.
Selecting the row cells is a close second best although a bit more awkward to invoke but does achieve a form of row highlights.
