Just looking at the above paragraphs, you won’t realise that it contains hidden codes to turn bold on an off. You don’t see these codes but they are there. Just try copying and pasting the second paragraph, and you’ll see what I mean :D
Not sure about that - I tried copying the paragraph with ctrl-c, right click and via the pop-up menu in Edge, and whatever I pasted it into, it was only plain text, with no formatting codes...

Agree with your general point though, that direct copying from web pages can be problematic.

An update from my experience :-
FindAGrave - Copying and pasting the Memorial ID to FH7 using Control+C and Control+V still doesn't work.
I'm not sure if this could be a font issue ?

Where are you trying to paste it? It works fine for me pasting it into the note field or text from source field in FH or into Word or Notepad.

Yeah, I noticed that after I posted  but I was thinking more along the lines of using the quote symbol above the post, to copy the details into a reply, then the formatting codes pops out and becomes visible.

I customised the property box, added two fields : FamilysearchID and FindAGrave ID (i.e. had to recreate those fields from my old pc). As John Wosser was saying, there was no problem on Windows 10. So, I generally expect it to perform as before, under Windows 11.

I don't particularly want to 'hide' data in note fields, even if it's an option.

What is odd, For FindAGrave - It will paste/copy direct to FH7 on some occasions and not others. Hence, why I thought it could be fonts.
On Familysearch, it seems ok.

I'll keep experimenting in my very limited capacity, but would be interested to see if others replicate something similar in the near future.

I have some good advice, from other members, to ponder in the meantime.

Thanks.
Mike

However, to avoid ending up with mixed fonts in a note I normally paste by using right-click with the mouse and then Paste Unformatted Text. Have you tried that?
Another option is to add a browser extension which gives a right click option "Copy as plain text" - there's extensions that do that for most browsers including Edge, Chrome, Firefox. I've found that sometimes works better than Paste Unformatted Text.

I wonder if could be in the way you defined those fields. FindAGrave ID is not a standard gedcom field. What did you use for a Data Reference?

BillH,

They are attribute fields. But when you look at it on a basic level, it's a case of cutting and pasting.
No more - no less.

The field definition was was just a wild guess on my part. I couldn't think of anything else. Good luck, hope you can figure it out.
