Events and Fact Sets

Post by mezentia » 08 May 2023 15:13

I appear to somehow inadvertently moved the Baptism event from the Standard Fact Set to Custom. I was trying to copy the Baptism event in order to create an event for "Received into the Church". However, when I copied the Baptism event, trying to place the copy into the Custom set, or so I thought, Baptism now resides in the Custom set and not Standard. How do I restore the Baptism event back into the Standard Fact Set? And then, how do I propertly make a copy that I can subsequently rename and edit?

In this instance, two individuals were actually initially baptised in an Independent church in Wales, and then some years later received into the Anglican church in England.

The baptism fact in the Standard set won't have been removed, but it will have been 'eclipsed' by the one in the custom set, and consequently hidden. This is because the custom set has priority over the standard set (by default, but the priority of different sets can be changed) so if both sets have a fact with the same name the custom one is used. If you click Show Hidden in the Fact Types dialog you'll see the standard fact is still there. Widen the window to display all the columns and under Visible it will say <eclipsed> and under Status it will say <disabled>.

If you delete the custom baptism fact the Standard one will come back into use. You'll need to create a new 'Received into the Church' custom fact from scratch, based on the model of the baptism fact.
