I read somewhere, and now can't find it, that cousins marrying can cause the individuals to be repeated in a chart.
I have this situation and the chart looks very odd with the looping lines and the individuals 'boxes' repeated, somewhat apart.
Is it possible for it to be displayed another way, perhaps with just one occurrence of their 'boxes'?

In Diagram Options > General tab, next to the Check for Duplicates box there is an Options.. button. The first option allows the hiding of duplicate branches, but you can't hide the duplicated 'root' people. You can of course hide the linking 'ribbons' by unticking the Check for Duplicates box, but it won't then be clear that some people appear twice in the diagram.

Lorna, that option says 'when first built' so I rebuilt the chart with the hide option checked, but the individuals, and their offspring, still appeared twice. I was expecting the chart to re-arrange so the married cousins parents were made adjacent so just one set of decedents were shown. Was I expecting the wrong thing, or is there some other option I have to use?
I considered pasting a snapshot but some of the individuals are still alive so I don't see how I can.

The married cousins themselves will still appear twice but their descendants shouldn't, if you have chosen the first option. It has always worked when I've tried it. However if the descendants really are duplicated you can still hide one of the sets of descendants by clicking on the expansion button just below the married couple. (If the expansion buttons are not showing, click the button icon in the diagram toolbar.) Doing it that way means that you can choose which branch to hide. And if you don't want even a single linking ribbon joining the duplicate boxes for the married cousins you can hide it.

The married couple have to appear twice so that their positions among their siblings can be seen. It's true that in the case of first cousins it often looks as if the diagram could be simplified, but bear in mind that FH has to cater for cases where "nth cousins n times removed" marry, and in most cases it just wouldn't be possible to place them next to each other in the diagram. There would always have to be a line of some sort stretching across the diagram.

If you want to post a screenshot perhaps you could blank out the names of living people, or create similar families with false names.

(Edit: After ticking the option to 'Hide duplicated family branches' did you to tick 'Remember Options' on the General tab, before recreating the diagram? If not, that setting won't have been saved.)

Their siblings were not initially repeated, just the parents and one set had an expansion button. The looped connection lines were absent. If that is the alternative I think I will stick with the original as it will at least highlight the cousin marriage.
