FH7 ancestry generations question
Hi all,
Good afternoon.
I'm currently coming to the end of my 30 day free trial period with FH7 and I have to say I am hugely impressed by it and I intend to purchase it.
However in my trial version I cannot increase the number of ancestry generations from the maximum number of 5 in the options menu.
Is this because it is trial version and in the paid for full version I will be able to add an infinite number of older generations?
I'm assuming so but would just like a confirmation before I take the plunge and buy it.
Thanks for your time and many thanks in advance for your replies.
Best regards,
Steve

Re: FH7 ancestry generations question
Welcome to FHUG Steve.
I'm not sure if you are referring to the diagram options or the report options, but the number of generations certainly be inbreased in either. It should work in the trial version. Here are screenshots of the Diagram options and Report options. Is this where you are looking?

I suspect he's referring to this: - I don't think it would be practical to have more hence the limit.

Re: FH7 ancestry generations question
(EDIT: John's post arrived while I was writing this. )
I've just realised that you may be referring to the Ancestors tab of the Focus window. That can't be increased beyond 5 generations, probably because of space issues. However that really isn't a problem. You can simply simply shift the focus to someone in one of he earlier generations when you want to see their ancestors. And there is no limit to the number of generations which can be displayed in a diagram, although obviously you need to zoom in and move around the diagram if it's very large.

Steve,
If we've correctly identified the setting you are referring to, it is just the maximum number of generations that can displayed when looking at the Ancestors tab of the focus window (shown behind the Preferences in my screen shot).
Double click any of the ancestors and you will see their earlier generations.

Thanks for your warm welcome and excellent advice. This works perfectly so I'm going to purchase it now.
Appreciate your help.
