thumbcache.dat

Post by ColinMc » 13 Apr 2023 18:18

Following on from Media Thumbnails (21799), Mike Tate's reminder to delete thumbcache.dat prompted me to have a look.

I discovered that there was no such file in my cache folder (using V7.0.19). I have deleted versions of this cache file in the past. Restarting FH made no difference, still no cache file.

I have three tiny other projects which are only used to store historic data and so had not been opened sine 2020/2021, and of course the Sample Project last accessed August 2022. Each of them had a thumbcache.dat file, so I deleted each and re-started each project again - again, no cache file.

Finally, I created a new project with a single record, and added approx 10 images to the media tab. This time there was not even a cache folder.

Have CP done away with it at some stage after Aug 22? I cannot see anything listed un the V& updates page on CP's web site. Alternatively my installation may be corrupt?

Does the thread Option to not create an image cache (21654) help?

It describes a setting you can make which inhibits the creation of the thumbcache.dat file - is that something you might have done?

That looks like it. I'll check when home. Thanks
