I am currently replacing 20 to 30 FMP census transcript images (jpegs). The originals are snipped screenshots, used because the FMP "Print" option only offered hard copy or pdf. However I now have OneNote - and can print to that and then create a jpeg from there, which gives a "cleaner" image, and which I can annotate before saving.
I started by saving the "new" format by overwriting the old file using the same name. This "half" worked! in that opening the file in FH shows the new image, however, the thumbnail still shows the old image.
I have got round this by removing the media from the source by using the Delete media record option and then use Insert from file to re-insert it. My question is -- is there any other way of updating the thumbnail image within FH.

Re: Media Thumbnails
Before I get more responses re the dangers of transcripts - these are linked to the source record alongside the census image - they are especially valuable where mis-transcriptions are concerned, especially in the case where the surname ROLLIN of the census image had been transcribed as BOLLIN!

Peter, does the problem persist if you close FH and then re-open it? I have found the same issue but I believe FH refreshes thumbnails when opening, so no other action should be necessary.

Re: Media Thumbnails
If all else fails then delete the notorious ThumbCache.dat file from:
...\Family Historian Projects\<project-name>\<project-name>.fh_data\Cache\
That should rebuild the thumbnails when FH is restarted.
It is a good idea to delete that cache file from time to time anyway as it just keeps getting bigger and never gets purged of old thumbnails.

Re: Media Thumbnails
I haven't tried closing and re-opening FH
Thanks for the cache clearing tip Mike
Quick update to say that deleting the thumbnail cache reduced it from 32,000 KB to 8,000 KB
