I have a set of templates that I'm converting from the imported RM9 version to FH7 style.
In the old templates I included a file for the filename associated with image for the record being cited.
I flagged it in the template code, so that it didn't print when the RM9 "private" checkbox was set in the printing menu.
This allowed me to relate the various people, facts and citations in RM9.
In FH7, there may be a more elegant way to get the same result.

Every citation has a "Note" field included in the template (by default). This is not the same as the "Note" tab.
Is it possible to use that template note field to contain my filename and later use an SQL query to create a list of Persons with their facts and associated filenames? Would it be better to use a dedicated template field to do the same thing, as I may want to store other info of a similar nature?

Just an update...

I see that when I drag and drop an image file into the media tab of a citation and associate it with the citation (not the source), it takes my filename as the "Title" of the image. The "Record Detail - Multimedia" report does some of what I want, but of course doesn't show the associated citations.

Gary, when discussing FH ban the word SQL. The FH Queries do not use that structure.

Yes, it would be a good idea to make the Note field text unique in some way.
Either create a specific metafield for the purpose as you suggested or use a unique labelled note so the =GetLabelledText( ... ) function can be used.

Use a Fact type Query with suitable Rows tab filters for the Individuals and Note details.

One snag is that a Fact can have many Citations so there may need to be a Column for each Citation instance from [1] to [n].
Although it should be possible to concatenate all the matching Note values into one Column which works well if it is likely that only one of the Citations will have a matching Note.

Mia culpa. When I see the word "Query", I tend to think and type "SQL Query". Old habits die hard.

I've already included a {File_Ref} meta-field in my imported RM9 templates (and will do so in new ones) so that it is specific to a particular citation instance (whether Lumper or Splitter). What I wonder about is how the query engine can be made to concatenate an indeterminate number of returned meta-fields for each fact. I wasn't aware that it had that type of advanced capability. If possible, I imagine the logic would be pretty complicated. For the moment, however, I really only need to know that it can be done at some point, because it's better to add all the required fields during template design.

A Query cannot cope with an indeterminate number of Citation metafields.
Both the Columns tab definitions and Rows tab filters must be designed to cope with a finite number equal to or greater than the number expected in your Project data.
