Sources
When I look for sources, the titles are too short, I can drag them across but they don't stay that way when I look the next time. How do I fix this?

Re: Sources
You might want to extend your question to explain where you are looking at sources and which pane.
Viewing in the Citation window shows the Citation text if you have the panel open.
On the Source Record list you should be able to widen the columns. This is the default used for the Source selection dialogue.

Re: Sources
John,
When you click add source, a dialogue box pops up, showing your list of sources. Rather than increasing column widths, try adjusting width of the actual dialogue box. I think column widths are controlled somewhat by the width of this box, if the box is too narrow, FH will be unable to show your desired column width, so will revert to normal width. FH remembers the width of the dialogue box, so once you have it to your desired size and place on the screen, it should re-open at same size and place.

John, I'm not sure where you are looking.Johnwrosser wrote: ↑26 Feb 2023 13:34When I look for sources, the titles are too short, I can drag them across but they don't stay that way when I look the next time. How do I fix this?
- on the Records window it is easy to drag the column to make it wider and it stays there for me, however depending on your window setup the name could be too long and I cannot see a way to view it there. So:
you then need to open in the property box and and as you say move across the field with arrow or end keys. A fairly standard Operating System feature.
And you are right, if you leave and return, it goes back to the start of the name.
The only options I can think of:
- Float your property box and make it as wide as possible.
- Have the Property Box floating on another Monitor (well worth the expense if your PC/Laptop will support it) then expand the window as required.
- Also on the records window, if you expand the source details (the standard + button or Alt+double click on the name) is displays underneath and again you can drag the column widths.
But if your Source name is too long for any of those options, it is a similar situation of the age old problem of FH not always remembering previous "window arrangements"
Feel free to report to Calicoe as these Ease of Use annoyances sometimes get addressed.

Re: Sources
In actual fact it is the 'select a repository, box that appears when I add a record. I lengthen the line but when I look next time it goes back to the shortened version. FH doesn't seem to remember things in my program?

Re: Sources
I refer you back to my earlier post:
So open View>Record Lists>Sources, View>Record Lists>Repositories and change the width there for columns used on the record selection. On the Source Record list you should be able to widen the columns. This is the default used for the Source selection dialogue.
